Dr. Emily Saunders knew at a young age that she would want to practice veterinary medicine. She grew up in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and volunteered at humane societies and worked at two separate veterinary hospitals. She grew up with many different species of pets including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, and even hermit crabs.
Dr. Saunders attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for her undergraduate work and completed veterinary school at Iowa State in 2009. Upon graduation, she started at Petersen Pet Hospital as an associate and in 2020 Dr. Saunders became part owner of Petersen Pet Hospital. Dr. Emily Saunders has a special interest in Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and Ultrasonography.
Her husband, Brian, is a dairy farmer. She has two boys, Kaleb and Parker, one girl, Brylee, a white German Shepherd, Jim and three cats named Subway, Chubby and Smokey.
When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, baking, and helping at the farm.
