Education: Kirkwood Community College
Stacy is a Registered Veterinary Technician and one of the most recent additions here at Petersen Pet Hospital. She is very excited for all of the opportunities it will bring her. Although she is new to Petersen, she always has a positive attitude and is ready to help an animal whenever she can. In the future, Stacy hopes to earn a technician specialty in an area such as dentistry or anesthesia.
Stacy spent the early years of her life living in Marion, Iowa until 2004 when her family had to move to Moore, Oklahoma due to her father getting a new job. She continued to live in Oklahoma until after graduating high school in 2012. Stacy had a huge interest in acting and spent most of her free time in high school performing in the school’s plays/musicals including roles in Grease, Willy Wonka, and The Pink Panther Strikes Again and decided to pursue it as a degree in college. Despite living in Oklahoma for eight years, Iowa had always felt more like home to her so she decided to apply to Kirkwood and began school in Spring of 2013. Although she enjoyed doing what she loved and even landed a roll in a local TV commercial, she felt she wanted to have a more fulfilling career. Stacy has always had a huge love for animals growing up so in the summer of 2014 she decided to join the Veterinary Technician program at Kirkwood and just recently graduated from it May 14, 2016.
Stacy currently lives in Cedar Rapids with her fiancé, Drew, and their big fluffy puppy, Lady Jane. Jane is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix that came into the vet clinic where Stacy was interning at last summer as a stray 8 week old puppy. Soon after her arrival, it was discovered that she had parvo virus. One of the other technicians at the clinic took care of Jane while she was sick, with Stacy watching her occasionally. After she was completely Parvo-free she went to Kirkwood to become one of the many dogs they take into their program each fall to get trained, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and adopted out. Having such a strong connection with Jane already, Stacy couldn’t help but adopt her. Lady Jane is very loved and now spends most of her time sleeping around their apartment. Stacy also has another dog back in Oklahoma named Abby. Abby is a German Shepherd/ Golden Retriever mix that has a special place in Stacy’s heart since she was her very first dog.
In her spare time, Stacy enjoys watching movies, listening to Taylor Swift, learning to play guitar, baking, playing video games, and spending time with her family and friends.
