Sarah H. is a registered veterinary technician at Petersen Pet Hospital. She was born and raised near Spencer located in NW Iowa. Sarah’s love for the veterinary field originates from life on an acreage with a variety of animals to help care for daily. She has always held a strong interest in the sciences as well as an interest in the health and well-being of animals. Sarah attended the Kirkwood Community College veterinary technician program and graduated in 2005. After completing state and national boards she became a registered veterinary technician of Iowa. As a technician, she spends her days caring for pets by carrying out treatment plans developed by the veterinarians at Petersen Pet Hospital and consulting with owners on various topics. A large part of her job is ensuring that pets are kept as comfortable, happy and healthy as possible while in our care. In the summer of 2017 she received her Fear Free Certification. This certification means that she has been educated in the ways of making the entire process of taking your pet to the veterinary office much less stressful and fearful.
Sarah shares her home with her husband, Matt, who enjoys camping, fishing, gardening, woodworking and home improvement projects. They have two young children that keep their home very active! Clara is the oldest and enjoys being outdoors, drawing, and running. Nolan likes to spend his time coloring, digging in dirt and helping mom and dad with projects. Her two dogs Norman and Bella enjoy wrestling with each other, running around outdoors, playing fetch and finding sticks to carry around. He-man and Gracie are her two indoor cats that spend their days lounging in the sun. She has farm cats that are always busy and enjoy following the family around and helping with outdoor projects. The newest addition to Sarah’s family is her flock of 12 hens that have been very entertaining. In her free time, Sarah likes spending time with her family, camping, gardening and yard work, home improvement projects, reading and crafting.
