Wellness & vaccine information for kittens, puppies, and adult dogs and cats.

Recommended Kitten Vaccinations

We recommend kittens receive vaccines every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks of age,
starting at 6-9 weeks of age.

6-9 Weeks of Age
  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • First FVRCP vaccine (this will protect your kitten against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia)
  • Deworming
  • Nutritional, dental and behavioral recommendations
  • Felv/FIV test (a test to make sure that your kitten doesn’t have feline leukemia and feline AIDS which are very contagious diseases to other cats)
  • Begin monthly flea & tick preventative
9-12 Weeks of Age

  •  Comprehensive physical exam
  • Second FVRCP vaccine
  • First FELV vaccine (this will protect your kitten against feline leukemia virus)
  • Deworming
  • Nutritional, dental and behavioral recommendations
  • Continue monthly flea & tick preventative
12-16 Weeks of Age

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • One year rabies vaccine
  • Third FVRCP vaccine
  • Second FELV vaccine
  • Deworming
  • Internal parasite exam
  • Nutritional, dental and behavioral recommendations
  • Continue monthly flea & tick preventative


Recommended Puppy Vaccinations

We recommend puppies receive vaccines every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks of age,
starting at 6-9 weeks of age.
6-9 Weeks of
Age

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • First DHPP vaccine (this will protect your puppy from distemper, parvo virus, parainfluenza and adenovirus)
  • Deworming
  • Nutritional, dental and behavioral recommendations
  • Begin monthly heartworm, intestinal worm, flea & tick control
9-12 Weeks of
Age

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • Second DHPP vaccine
  • Deworming
  • First Bordetella vaccine (this vaccine will protect your pet from the most common strains of kennel cough)
  • Nutritional, dental and behavioral recommendations
  • Continue monthly heartworm, intestinal worm, flea & tick control
12-16 Weeks of
Age

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • One year rabies vaccine
  • Third DHPP
  • Second Bordetella vaccine
  • Deworming
  • Internal parasite exam
  • Nutritional, dental, and behavioral recommendations
  • Continue monthly heartworm, intestinal worm, flea & tick control

*At the time of your pets’ spay/neuter your pet will be started on the Leptospirosis vaccine (this vaccine will protect your puppy from the leptospirosis bacteria which is spread in wild animal urine) and Lyme vaccine (if Dr. recommended – this vaccine will protect your puppy from the tick spread bacteria called Lyme disease). These vaccines will then be repeated 2-3 weeks later.


 

Recommended for Dogs and Cats

Healthy adult dogs and cats should be seen once a year for vaccines and a wellness check.
At this appointment, your adult pet will get the following:

  • Rabies vaccine (every 3 years)
  • DHPP (every 3 years)
  • Leptospirosis vaccine
  • Bordetella vaccine
  • Lyme vaccine (if Dr. recommended)
  • Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia/Anaplasma test
  • Intestinal parasite exam
  • Nutritional, dental, and behavioral recommendations
  • Continue monthly heartworm, intestinal worm, flea & tick control
  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • Rabies vaccine
  • FVRCP vaccine (every 3 years for indoor cats)
  • FeLV vaccine (every year for outdoor cats)
  • Nutritional, dental, and behavioral recommendations
  • Continue monthly flea & tick preventative
